ISGF is a public private partnership initiative of the Ministry of Power, Govt. of India with the mandate of accelerating smart grid deployments across the country. With 170+ members comprising of ministries, utilities, regulators, technology providers, academia, and research, ISGF has evolved as one of the reputed Think-Tanks in Smart Grids and Smart Cities space around the world. Since its establishment, ISGF has been driving change and innovation in smart grid space.
The 4thedition of India Smart Grid Week (ISGW 2018) is scheduled from 5 – 9 March 2018 at Manekshaw Center, Dhaula Kuan, New Delhi, India. ISGW 2018 is planned as a Conference cum Exhibition that will bring together India’s leading Electricity Utilities, Policy Makers, Regulators, Investors and world’s top-notch Smart Grid Experts and Researchers to discuss trends, share best practices and showcase next generation technologies and products in smart grid and smart cities domains. ISGW 2018 will include plenaries, interactive workshops, panels, keynotes, and technical paper presentations.
To foster and recognize break through innovations, ISGF is introducing ISGF Innovation Awards as part of India Smart Grid Week 2018. ISGF Innovation Awards 2018 is a global event that focuses and celebrates personalities, projects and products from utilities and technology companies that have set a new benchmark in Smart Grid and Smart City Segments.ISGF Innovation Awards will recognize individuals and organizations to encourage scaling up of ground breaking innovations
ISGF invites public and private utilities, service providers, urban local bodies, technology companies, researchers and academia to nominate and to share their accomplishments and their project demonstrations. Nominations can be made in the categories provided in the next page.

|There are 14 GoI supported Smart Grid pilots with State Discoms, each at different stages of progress and success. Besides these, Discoms in India have also executed several smart grid projects. Discoms are encouraged to share their project progress and results achieved. This category will recognize holistic implementation, integration, and impact coming from deployed solutions, rather than piece meal modules. Nominations will be divided into two categories:

|3||Best Rural Electrification Projects- Utility||Utilities – Public||DDUGJY has different degrees of penetration with Discoms. This award recognizes the best project implementation of the Rural Electrification Projects by Utilities and System Integrators and will be judged on the effectiveness, successful implementation, and outcomes. Nominations will be divided into two categories:
|4||Best Rural Electrification Projects by Industry||Technology Providers|
|5||Most Progressive Smart City in India||Urban Local Bodies||Smart City Plans of 90 cities are approved. Smart City provides a good envelope to bring different elements of smart utilities across power, water, waste, transport, traffic, and others under broader aggregation of a City. This award recognizes the nominated city with best integrated planning across different utilities and progress made on implementation and stakeholder engagement
|6||Innovative Policies and Regulations Promoting Renewables and Smart Grids in India||Regulators, State Govt., Central Govt.
|This award recognizes Regulators, State Govt., Central Govt. & Organizations for their impactful policies in the electricity sector that support improved smart utility implementation and adoption. These policies can be in areas like:
· Loss Reduction/ Energy Efficiency (EE)
· Renewable Energy promotion
· Net Metering Policies
· Smart Grid Regulations
|7||Best Energy Efficiency Programs/Projects||B2B or B2C Aggregators

|There are a number of innovations fueled by end-customers by demanding and adopting new smart technologies and forcing utilities to take cognizance. Many townships are going green, hi-tech and smart taking more roles in services. Many of the industries are proactively adopting EE, demand response etc. Many Builders are making energy efficient Smart Homes. Electric vehicles are becoming reality. This award recognizes achievements of such enablers of smart practices towards transformation to an energy efficient economy
|8||Smart Technology of the Year||Utilities, Project Operators, Technology Providers||This is a joint award to recognize an Electric Utility and it’s supporting Technology Provider for successful joint implementation of smart technology on supply and/or demand side
|9||Innovative EV of the Year||Electric Car & Bus, 3Wheeler Manufacturers||India is about to witness an EV evolution and many manufacturers are ready with their EV designs for India. This Award recognizes the most innovative EV designs for India.|
|Smart Startup of the Year||Technology Providers||This award recognizes technology startups (revenue less than US $10 million (in financial year 2017-18), that has helped solving issues mainly for utilities and have enabled them and their end-customers to become efficient and smart.|
|11||Smart Startup by Woman Entrepreneur||Technology Providers||This award recognizes technology startups by women entrepreneurs (revenue less than US $10 million (in financial year 2017-18), that has helped solving issues mainly for utilities and have enabled them and their end-customers to become efficient and smart
|12||Smart Startup by Young Entrepreneur (below 30 years of age)||Technology Providers||This award recognizes technology startups by young person(revenue less than US $10 million (in financial year 2017-18), that has helped solving issues mainly for utilities and have enabled them and their end-customers to become efficient and smart|
|13||Smart Incubator of the Year||Incubators, Entrepreneurship Cell (E-Cell)||There are many incubators in India that are hosted and supported by Government, Academia, Industrial bodies, Corporate and others. They continue to play a strong role in aiding startup ecosystem and promoting innovation This award recognizes their contributions to the industry.|
|14||Most Progressive Water Utility in India||Water Distribution Utilities||This award recognizes most progressive Water Distribution Utility in India|
|15||Most Progressive Gas Utility in India||City Gas Distribution Utilities||This award recognizes most progressive City Gas Distribution Utility in India|
|16||ISGF President’s Award for the best contribution towards growth of Smart Grids in India||ISGF Member Organization and Individuals||This will be an exclusive award for ISGF members and Individuals contributing towards the growth of Smart Grids in India|
Individuals or organizations listed aside the categories above can apply. If you do not belong to any of the types of organizations mentioned in the “Who can apply?” list above, but still believe that your entry fits the category description then you are encouraged to write to us.
An independent jury comprising of distinguished experts shall evaluate the nominations and decide upon the winners
The following parameters will be key while evaluating the nominations. It is advised that the nominations submitted aim to address these points as clearly as possible with evidence/supporting documents:
